Package: scim
Version: 1.4.4-5
Severity: normal
Hello,
in my /etc/X11/xorg.conf I have:
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Generic Keyboard"
Driver "kbd"
[...]
Option "XkbOptions" "compose:menu"
EndSection
This allows me to type accented characters on a US keyboard by typing
Menu + accent, letter. For example, Menu+' a gives รก.
When I use scim with this default xinput.d setup:
#
# Use "X input Method" for all applications
#
# Per Ming's Documentation in SCIM, XIM Input Method is activated
# not only for old X-applications but also for GTK and QT appplication.
#
# If a user wish to use, GTK Input Method, (s)he can right-click input
# area and select "Input Methods" and change from "X input Method" to
# "SCIM Input Method".
#
XIM=SCIM
XIM_PROGRAM=/usr/bin/scim
XIM_ARGS="-d"
GTK_IM_MODULE=xim
QT_IM_MODULE=xim
DEPENDS="scim,scim-anthy|scim-canna|scim-chewing|scim-pinyin|scim-hangle|scim-prime|scim-skk|scim-tables-additional|scim-m17n|scim-uim|scim-tables-ja|scim-tables-ko|scim-tables-zh"
compose just does not work. If I right click on a gtk input area and
choose SCIM as the input method, compose works again. Compose seems to
work with scim or scim-qtimm, but not with xim.
This bug is quite bad for me because I type a lot of Italian, which
needs the accents.
I've been reading #348893 where it says to use /FrontEnd/X11/Dynamic = false
I tried, but it didn't help.
Ciao,
Enrico
