Give me an example of what you think is more informative version of
the following and I'll consider :

getting the same messages (I think) on a different system:
Reading package status... Done
Retrieving bug reports... 0% W: syntax error
Error retrieving bug reports
Retry downloading bug information?[Y/n]?
 W: syntax error
Error retrieving bug reports
