Are you upgrading from a previous package version. If so, from what version?
If you have used a custom installation of the upstream distribution before this might be the root of evil. The package does not support upgrading custom installs (only upgrades from previous package versions). The reason for this is that in theory the upstream stuff can be installed in any location and I think it is not reasonable to test for every possiblity. I'd be glad if you could post more information.
