 Yes, but please note that this *when built with --enable-legacy*, which
 isn't the case since version 0.8-6.1 in Debian.

 Ok, so your remark is relevant for avahi.  Perhaps you can simply
 request that avahi be built with IPv6 by default in Debian via a new
 bug report against avahi?
