Now there should be three files, corresponding to: $ strace -f dvips CJKutf8-japanese-only.dvi |& tee dvips.strace.log $ KPATHSEA_DEBUG=-1 dvips JIS.dvi -o JIS.ps &> dvips-debug.log $ KPATHSEA_DEBUG=-1 xdvi JIS.dvi &> xdvi-debug.log Of course, I recompiled the latex files in each case...
