I just checked which compiler is actually used when using javac from the
java-gcj-compat-dev package. It is ecj-bootstrap from the package with
the same name. Quoting the package description:
This package provides a bootstrap version of the Eclipse JDT compiler
which is distributed as part of Eclipse. It passes the JCK (Java
Compatibility Kit) and is compatible with Java 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 and 1.6.
This sound good to me, but there might be alternatives.
Cheers,
Michael
