Well, actually I assume that we do not really need "=$SourceVersion", but just some (>= $version). But this means that we have to closely follow upstream's changelog: Is there any change to preview.sty that requires the versioned dependency to be bumped? On the other hand, if we use $SourceVersion, we're on the safe side - and preview-latex-style is a tiny package, so I don't really see a downside of forcing its upgrade.
