hi

here is the transcript of my session:

230-This site is just another one in a worldwide array of Debian mirrors.
230-It is not the "primary Debian FTP site" -- it is merely an official
230-mirror that is in the United States of America.

230-If you are connecting from outside the USA, please consider using another
230-official Debian mirror, one that is closer to you. This will likely help
230-you by speeding up your downloads, and it will help us by lessening the
230-load on this machine.

230 Login successful.
Remote system type is UNIX.

ftp> passive
Passive mode on.
ftp> ls

150 Here comes the directory listing.

then nothing ever arrives. Same with lftp.

I can cd into subdirs, but still I cannot 'ls' them.
And I cannot retrieve data with standard ftp protocols:

$ lftp ftp.debian.org
lftp ftp.debian.org:~> cd /debian
cd ok, cwd=/debian
lftp ftp.debian.org:/debian> ls
Interruzione
lftp ftp.debian.org:/debian> get README.pgp
`README.pgp' at 0 [In attesa della risposta...]

Nothing ever arrives.

This is annoying : I was looking for the latest experimental packages
of gstreamer, to see if they fix bug 357233 ; but unfortunately the web
page
http://packages.debian.org/experimental/libs/gstreamer0.10-plugins-base
has broken download links ; while the listing of
 http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/g/gst-plugins-base0.10/
is not really useful, since Apache abbreviates the names.

In the end I downloaded the listing
http://packages.debian.org/experimental/libs/gstreamer0.10-plugins-base
and I scanned its HTML for all links; but this is inconvenient.
