When trying to convert ulaw raw file into WAV, I have the following error:
$ sox -swr 8000 twmic.raw -c 2 twmic.wav pan 1
*** glibc detected *** double free or corruption (out): 0x00000000005a1250

Abandon
I am running a Debian-AMD64 sid full 64 bits system.
This error did not exist on previous version of Sox.
