I dont understand much of it, but it seems that ipv6 (or the way it is used / installed by default or at least on my system) is responsible for annoying lag in looking up domain names. Now if you could tell me the easyiest way to remove ipv6 I would be happy. Otherwise I will have to recompile the kernel without ipv6. This can't be a good default install like that! Except from that - debian is amazing and this installer rocks.
