The synaptic package does not depend on gksu, but if you don't install
gksu, synaptic will not run from the Gnome menu item installed by
default. Executing 'synaptic' manually (not from the menu item) works fine.
The error message is:
"Could not launch menu item
Details: Failed to execute child process "gksu" (No
such file or directory)"
The menu item is configured to execute
'gksu -u root /usr/sbin/synaptic'
