I have the same problem. xfs_repair crashes on a 8 TB device (2 TB free). The discussion on the sgi mailing list is very interesting, but there is no solution:
http://oss.sgi.com/archives/xfs/2006-08/msg00256.html It sounds like a joke ;-( Switching back to xfsprogs from stabel solves the problem. The filesystem is o.k. now, maybe.
