I thought it happened in all applications, but I've since done some more testing. It happens in KWrite, KMyMoney, GIMP and an application of my own (where I first noticed the problem - the app is written using the wxPython GUI libraries). Oddly though, the problem doesn't appear with OpenOffice. Tom
