Yes, it is bound to be a problem with the drivers for your device, or another part of the kernel. udftools is only the userspace portion. Try upgrading to the latest kernel - maybe use a kernel from kernel.org, Debian always lags a bit. Please close this bug, the udftools userspace tools do not (directly) cause the crash.
