Package: pppoeconf
Version: 1.14

pppoeconf asked me to send a bug report, because it could not parse my
/etc/network/interfaces correctly.

This was my old interfaces file:
------------------------------------------------------------
> # This file describes the network interfaces available on your system
> # and how to activate them. For more information, see interfaces(5).
>
> # The loopback network interface
> auto lo
> iface lo inet loopback
>
> # The primary network interface
> auto eth0
> iface eth0 inet static
> address 192.168.1.1
> netmask 255.255.255.0
> network 192.168.1.0
> broadcast 192.168.1.255
> # gateway 192.168.1.1
> # dns-* options are implemented by the resolvconf package, if
> installed
> # dns-nameservers 192.168.1.1
> # dns-search brinkmann
>
>
> iface dsl-provider inet ppp
> provider dsl-provider
>
> auto eth1
>
> iface eth1 inet manual
------------------------------------------------------------

And this the new one created by pppoeconf:
------------------------------------------------------------
> # This file describes the network interfaces available on your system
> # and how to activate them. For more information, see interfaces(5).
>
> # The loopback network interface
> auto lo
> iface lo inet loopback
>
> # The primary network interface
> auto eth0
> iface eth0 inet static
> address 192.168.1.1
> netmask 255.255.255.0
> network 192.168.1.0
> broadcast 192.168.1.255
> # gateway 192.168.1.1
> # dns-* options are implemented by the resolvconf package, if
> installed
> # dns-nameservers 192.168.1.1
> # dns-search brinkmann
>
>
> iface dsl-provider inet ppp
> pre-up /sbin/ifconfig eth1 up # line maintained by pppoeconf
> provider dsl-provider
>
> auto eth1
>
> iface eth1 inet manual
>
> iface eth1 inet manual
------------------------------------------------------------

Maybe the interfaces file was set up somehow incorrectly? I have the
problem that I need to do a manual "ifconfig eth1 up" once after reboot.
Ohterwise "pon" will not establish a connection. (This is the case with
older and also the latest pppoeconf.) Should I send a separate bug
report for this? How should a working interfaces file look like?

Thanks,
Gert
