It opens a new window for me, asking for the login and password. I'm not
sure, if it's coming from seahorse, but I believe so. Do you have
seahorse installed? Can you check what happens, when you install it?

I can enter ftp sites. No problem here. Could you please be so kind to
try to open the ftp location in nautilus? Do you observe the same issue?

Which libgnomevfs2* packages do you have installed?
