Hi, what about this : http://fuse4bsd.creo.hu/README.new_fusepy_api.html#old-api , maybe only patching the packages that refrain from upgrading to a new python-fuse version would be enough (yes, python-fuse in Debian is in an old version, now there are lot more features). Or maybe you already tried it ?
