Package: nautilus Version: 2.14.3-11+b1 Severity: normal
For years my Nautilus desktop has had a symlink to 'SpaceMonger.exe', a handy "treeview" type freeware Windows .EXE. It was set to open under 'wine' and worked well. Under recent versions of 'nautilus' that symlink no longer runs, instead an error message appears: 1 The filename "SpaceMonger.exe" indicates that this file is of type 2 "executable". The contents of the file indicate that the file is of type 3 "DOS/Windows executable". If you open this file, the file might present 4 a security risk to your system. 5 Do not open the file unless you created the file yourself, or received 6 the file from a trusted source. To open the file, rename the file to the 7 correct extension for "DOS/Windows executable", then open the file 8 normally. Alternatively, use the Open With menu to choose a specific 9 application for the file. The second sentence of the second paragraph, (lines #6 & #7), is confusing. It alludes to a "correct" extension for a Windows .exe. Sounds OK, but what's "correct"? The error message should say which extension. Note that since the file name in question is "SpaceMonger.exe", (which ends in '.exe'), the file probably already had the correct extension; perhaps the above error message is being triggered incorrectly.
