This is something that I will try to work on over the summer. One of the most demotivating factors about pgplot5 is that even though there is supposed to be a non-free buildd, I endu up having to build all the architectures by hand because my requests go unheeded. This makes it _very_ labor intensive to release a new revision.

I'd like to second this wishlist item. It doesn't seem particularly
difficult to do: one needs to
(1) add either tk8.3-dev or tk8.4-dev to the Build-Depends:
(and maybe the corresponding tcl*-dev package as well, if required by policy);
(2) in debian/g77_gcc.conf.debian, adjust the definitions of TK_INCL and
TK_LIBS;
(3) comment out the TKDRIV line in debian/drivers.list.debian;
(4) add an
$(INSTALL_DATA) $(bdir)/libtkpgplot.a  debian/tmp/usr/lib/
to debian/rules in the obvious place.

My main question mark is whether pgplot5 is compatible with the threads
support that's built into tcl8.4 or whether it should be built against
tcl8.3 instead. (Actually, it should be possible to build both versions
of libtkpgplot.a and let the user choose at link time which one to use;
but I'm not sure that's worth the trouble.)
