Hi Robert,

Note that the ext4 filesystem is in development, and is really not
suitable for use in production systems. The patches found at:

http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/tytso/e2fsprogs-interim

... are not in the mainline e2fsprogs nor in Debian precisely *because*
they are not ready, and in fact are very bleeding edge.

They are present only for the convenience of ext4 kernel developers, so
they have something they can use to do their testing.

I will be feeding in portions of the e2fsprogs-interim patch series as I
have time to fix them up and clean them up. But it's going to be a
while before full support for ext4 is in e2fsprogs, if for no other
reason than it is a moving target; there are new features still being
proposed, and e2fsprogs isn't going to have full support for a while.

For example, extents support still needs work, but will probably enter
the e2fsprogs mainline (and from there into Debian unstable), but
support for 64-bit block numbers will definitely be a while.

Regards,

                                                - Ted
