Package: fglrx-driver Version: 8.37.6-1 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable
The X server does not start, it reads "no screen found". Running dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg and changing nothing except "ati" instead of "fglrx", fixes the problem. I would be very happy with the ati driver if Beryl worked on that, but it does not :-( By the way, it happens on my computer at work, so I cannot play around much. I can only provide information with my current settings (i.e, with the ati driver). The graphic card is Radeon 9200 SE, and the monitor Philips 170B. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (900, 'unstable'), (400, 'testing'), (350, 'stable'), (300, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.21-1-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages fglrx-driver depends on: ii libc6 2.5-9+b1 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libgcc1 1:4.2-20070528-1 GCC support library ii libstdc++5 1:3.3.6-15 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libx11-6 2:1.0.3-7 X11 client-side library ii libxext6 1:1.0.3-2 X11 miscellaneous extension librar ii libxrandr2 2:1.2.1-1 X11 RandR extension library ii libxrender1 1:0.9.2-1 X Rendering Extension client libra ii xserver-xorg 1:7.2-3 the X.Org X server Versions of packages fglrx-driver recommends: ii fglrx-kernel-src 8.37.6-1 kernel module source for the ATI g -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
