Okayyyy, my fault. I was suspending with Fn+F4 (Thinkpad), which obviously 
does not go through kpowersave. If I right double click on the kpowersave 
systray icon and select Suspend from there, it works.

I'll try to figure out now what and where do I need to change to get it
back to how it was before; any insight appreciated. :)
