This bug started a long time ago (more than a year) but I didn't
report it because I expected that it would be reported by
somebody else or fixed upstream. However, it appears that nobody
else is hitting this bug...?

I don't really understand what you mean by message synopsis. Is it in
the email message list? Isn't only the subject shown there?
