This is not a change between dynamic and static linking. The only reverse-dependencies that will be affected by this change are packages which build shared libraries or DSO plugins using libtool and ship the resulting .la files in the packages. So: $ for F in `grep-dctrl -FDepends -n -sFilename libkpathsea4 \ /var/lib/apt/lists/_mirror*_sid_*_Packages` do dpkg -c /mirror/$F | grep -q '\.la$' && echo $F done No other packages seem to be affected. But I don't know why vflib3 needed rebuilt either, it doesn't seem to contain any .la files?
