The original problem in this report should be useless now. Even if
dpkg-reconfigure does not select the right modes, the driver should not
care about them at all (the "mode" line) and detect the correct modes at
runtime.

So, apart from the dpkg-reconfigure problem which does not matter
anymore, what's the actual status of your machine? Which default mode do
you get at startup? What do you expect instead? What does xrandr
--verbose say? (you'll need xbase-clients >= 7.2). Does
xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.0.0-5 (currently in experimental) help?
