The problem no longer occurs with the current xserver-xorg-video-intel driver. David Nusinow told me on IRC awhile back that he'd uploaded new versions of xserver-xorg-core and the Intel driver to experimental, and suggested I try them, and that version fixed the problem. I don't remember what version it was, or whether it was the -i810 or -intel variant of the driver, but whatever it was, it's been superseded by xserver-xorg-video-intel version 2:2.0.0-1, which is now in unstable, and that works fine. (Sorry about not closing this bug report when I found the problem fixed -- I forgot I'd filed it, actually.) There was also a related problem, not mentioned in my bug report, where the screen would not come on at all after resuming from ACPI S3 sleep until I switched to a text console. I worked around that by putting "acpi_sleep=s3_bios" on my kernel options line, but it's also been fixed by the latest driver. -- Mike Paul <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
