I'm afraid I still have no idea on how to reproduce this bug, despite using metacity a lot. Furthermore, the backtrace you sent us isn't really usable. There is a possibility that retrying with libglib2.0-dbg installed gives better results. As it looks like some IO deadlock between the two processes, we also need the same trace from metacity-dialog at the same time; you can attach to its PID with "gdb --pid=12345".
