I can confirm this bug.I'm using gtkterm to talk to a little micro on a breadboard. Software from the micro spits a stream of data down the serial port. Leaving it running for around half a day ate up the 1GB ram in this machine leaving it thrashing.
It's possible that this is because there are no CRLFs in the stream but I haven't tested that.
