The more I think about it the more the idea of having it running
invisibly in the background, without taking up tray space until a new
message arrives appeals to me. Although I definitely agree things as
they are now aren't good.
What I'm thinking is this:
1) Hide does become preferences in the context menu. (Quick fix for
#433491)
2) Closing icedove via the window decoration (X) can be configured to do
one of either two things:
i - Hide in the tray, either with the default icon or the new mail
icon.
or:
ii - Become completely invisible until mail is received, or the
user tries
to start icedove again from the desktop or a shell.
Clearly 2) requires sensible defaults and possibly an alerting message
the first time. Doing 1) also would require i18n changes. I'll give 1
a go now though.
