Do you have semantic installed?  If so, please try removing it and
report if that solves the problem.  See
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=418071 for an
explanation.

If this does not help, please run "emacs22 -q" and post the contents
of the *Messages* buffer.
