While I agree that it isn't best practice to make imcompatible changes
in software when it can be avoided, I fail to see how this bug is
important, or that it is even a bug. The upstream author changed an
internal part of his package that few users will ever tweak; that's all.
The best I would do is make this priority wishlist and send it
upstream. Perhaps the author would consider making a new version that
is backwards-compatible.
