Package: dbconfig-common
Version: 1.8.35
Severity: normal

When I run dpkg-reconfigure package, to change the default settings
(like the db name), dbconfig-common does not prompt for the db
admin-user password and so fails with a message like this:

pluto:/home/michael# dpkg-reconfigure rsyslog-mysql
dbconfig-common: writing config to /etc/dbconfig-common/rsyslog-mysql.conf
unable to connect to mysql server.
error encountered creating user:
ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password:
NO)
dbconfig-common: rsyslog-mysql configure: trying again.
dbconfig-common: writing config to /etc/dbconfig-common/rsyslog-mysql.conf
dbconfig-common: flushing administrative password
Reloading enhanced syslogd: rsyslogd.

If I then select the option to retry again, I'm prompted the same
questions and it works fine. I'm not sure if dbconfig-common pulls the
root password from the debconf database or why it works on the second
attempt.
