This has been a real bug in avelsieve 1.9.7-1. With 1.9.7-2 avelsieve
does not depend any more on cyrus21-imapd or cyrus-imapd-2.2. It is now
just recommended to install it.

You can install avelsieve without the recommended packages this way:

# aptitude --without-recommends install avelsieve
or
# aptitude -R install avelsieve

See the manual page of aptitude for explanations.

I'm going to examine the situation now. Maybe I change this
recommendation to a suggestion.
