There are multiple reasons why the installer script was unable to generate the configuration file /etc/xvmounttab. In every of these cases, the installer should have sent you a high-priority message indicating the failure. Can you confirm that no such message was generated? To understand the actual reason for the failure it would be useful to see the content of your /etc/fstab.
