I bet this is due to it leaking memory and thus eventually crashing. It would be nice if you could verify that or at least measure the memory usage of the menu plugin after a few hours, though. If you then would like to be really ambitious, you could try to provide us with a valgrind log of the leak for us to pass to upstream.
