The i18n support in all debconf-using packages being a release goal for Lenny (http://release.debian.org/lenny-goals.txt), I'm raising the severity to important. In the case of pine, there are 3 different ways to fix the package, depending on what comes first: * Lenny is released: the switch must be done long enough before to give time to translators to translate the package. * A mta-base package is created: pine-tracker/note must be switched to po-debconf (or moved to a News.Debian file, as it is really close to a debconf abuse). The two other templates will then be removed. * alpine replaces pine: this bug will be closed together with other pine's bugs.
