Package: alsa-driver
Version: 1.0.15-1
Severity: normal

I just got the latest NEWS.Debian entry through apt-listchanges.
---
/etc/init.d/alsa is now stored as script in /usr/sbin:

    # /usr/sbin/alsa {unload|reload|force-unload|force-reload|suspend|resume}

This script isn't used in any rc?.d sequence. It doesn't conform to
  http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-opersys.html section 9.3.2,
  which prescribes {start|stop|restart|reload|force-reload}.
---

When I read this, I wonder... so what's the problem ? is there something I
should do to keep my sound setup working ? If not, why do they tell me that ?

So I looked further in the changelog and saw:
   * Install obsolete alsa init-script to /usr/sbin and put a relevant
     note in NEWS.Debian. (closes: #447539)

Is it really obsolete ? If yes, why do you keep it in the package ?

And why bother the admin with the move of an obsolete script ?

Please either remove that NEWS.Debian entry or reword it to explain
clearly what problems this move might cause and what actions I should
take.

Cheers,
