yep, going to switch some account to 2.x, so just checked ... yes, now if a doc type is explicitly set to be handled by an external helper, IW won't open another tab/window. It still happens, if the helper is called via plugin eg mozplugger, though I think here the point might be how the plugin talks to the browser - ie might be a mozplugger bug; not sure/cannot dig deeper.
