Closing this Bugreport do not solve the issue that there IS a conflict to wxpython2.5.3. Moreover the conflict is only in the newest package libwxgtk2.4-python_2.4.2.6.1 as libwxgtk2.4-python_2.4.2.6 was coexisting fine with the wxpython2.5.3 package. Maybe you will call me "clown" too. But I think this is a important bug as it prevent the package from beeing updated. And it is not as easy to say that 2.5 are a mess as there exists other packages depending on this newer package. I never ever would install python on my system if there wouldn't be other software depending on it. So please do at least a conflicting entry in the controll file as the OP suggest for solving the problem. A other way whould be to move all conflicting filese away by dpkg-divert. If you don't like that other people report bugs for your package, don't publice them if there are not absolutely bugfree!
