I forgot that large parts of the multilib support is added by patches. So the following happens: config-ml.in tries to link something with -m64. As this is the libgcc, which emits crtbegin.o for not-main-arch, it fails as the build not yet produced a usable one and disables itself. The test uses the temporary xgcc and is therefor not able to use the old one from /usr/lib/gcc.
