Hello, I can confirm this bug. It seemed to start happening after I upgraded to hal 0.5.10-2. Also, when I change the brightness using the slider on the Power Management Preferences dialog box, the brightness oscillates between what looks like 0% and 100% while I move the slider, but then settles on the correct brightness once the slider has stopped moving. Although the brightness level indicator continues to show a level of 0 regardless of what the actual brightness level is.
