Package: nvidia-kernel-2.6.23-1-amd64 Version: 100.14.19-1+2.6.23-1 Severity: normal
The nVidia driver does not seem to take into account the up and down hotkeys to control the brightness of the LCD back-light on a Compaq nw9440. The only action taken into account is the Fn-F11 hotkey that switch between manual and automatic brightness control using the ambient light sensor. But in manual mode, the back-light is always on full brightness and this cannot be changed with hotkeys Fn-F9 and Fn-F10. This behaviour is in the nVidia drivers for 6 months at least. If I use the free Xorg driver instead, it does work fine on this issue. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.23-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages nvidia-kernel-2.6.23-1-amd64 depends on: ii nvidia-kernel-common 20051028+1-0.1 NVIDIA binary kernel module common Versions of packages nvidia-kernel-2.6.23-1-amd64 recommends: ii linux-image-2.6.23-1-amd64 2.6.23-1 Linux 2.6.23 image on AMD64 -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
