Hi,

I took this upstream, and while they agreed that the problem was real, they
were a bit reluctant to accept the patch, since any such solution potentially
must be kept around for a long time even if a proper fix is found. I'm a bit
unsure where to go next -- I'm not very keen on keeping a patch in Debian
that upstream doesn't want...
