Not from my perspective. I think I may have hit this bug once or twice
in the old
version, but not enough to make me think twice about updating thumbnails. Now
it happens every single time I update thumbnails.

Well, the short description is "Picture viewer for X with a
thumbnail-based selector".
I'd say if a feature in the short description doesn't work at all, that deserves
an important.
