You can try to run the failing item again from the menu, or skip it and choose something else. The failing step is: Select a keyboard layout --- Detect network hardware Ethernet card not found No ethernet card was found on the system tlan, eepro100, eepro100, cpqarray, ... (on the Compaq) No ethernet card was found on the system tg3, ... (on the Dell) It recognise the NICs but it doesn't have any of the modules available on the CD... I did have the same problem trying to install it on my notebook (with both, the keyboard and the NIC). With the NICs I got the same problem with release 20050323 & 20050409.
