I know, they told me that, too :) But this is about 0.5.1, it works;
I've been using it yesterday and they have a Gentoo user on AMD64 as
well.

It's unofficial, but it builds from the same sources. No patches are
being applied to the sources on what we call 'pure64.' Not even to the
debian/control file.

We are instructed to file bug reports against the packages when they
should build on amd64 but, for some reason, are restricted to i386 (or
others). For your information, amd64 will become official after Sarge is
released, thus you'd have to add it to the list of supported
architectures sooner or later.
