Thank you. There's no polite way for me to express my feelings about this, so I won't. Suffice it to say that I asked Arne where I could find documentation of the .jack3rc file. I'll quote the correspondence verbatim: > Where do I find the documentation of the format of a ~/.jack3rc file? It's not documented and there should be no need to know it. You can set all the options you want on the command-line and then append --save to write them to ~/.jack3rc. If you really want to edit it by hand look at the result, it should be pretty obvious... As you have so kindly demonstrated, this is not true---or else the command-line option that corresponds to freedb_dir is not listed on the man page. I won't file a bug report against the undocumented file format as this is clearly upstream's problem and upstream clearly isn't interested. But for those of us who are not good at reading Python souce, would you be kind enough to add the information about freedb_dir to the Debian man page?
