I pretty much endorse this bug's contents.
I am using hibernate 1.97-1 package, configured to use sysfs. (I have
tried uswsusp on a few tests without success). Suspend worked reliably
on etch's kernel, but has become unstable on my box with lenny. I have a
mix of problems:
*suspend sometimes freezes while writing the image to disk. In this
case HD light stays on and the box is dead; I have to turn the power
off. It seems to be more reliable if I am using less RAM;
*sometimes it works ok, buf after a suspend, when I try to halt the box
(shutdown -h), the system freezes and does not turn off. Filesystems are
not unmounted since fsck complains on the next boot.
Please let me know which information to submit in this case.
