With 'scim-pinyin' deinstalled, the input methods from UIM (uim-py) and
'scim-tables-zh' (zh-py) work well.

After reinstalling 'scim-pinyin' the following happens.

I try to start scim the usual way, which fails:

 $ scim -d
 Smart Common Input Method 1.4.7

 Launching a SCIM daemon with Socket FrontEnd...
 Loading simple Config module ...
 Creating backend ...
 Launching a SCIM process with x11...
 Loading simple Config module ...
 Creating backend ...
 Failed to launch SCIM.

When I do the same as root, it works. But the user can only start scim
using the following command:

 $ scim -d -c socket -f x11 -e socket

Then, scim starts fine. But only two input methos are listed and available:
- Other European
- English Keyboard
Nothing happens when I click on SCIM Setup. And when I type 'scim-setup'
as a command, I get the earlier reported segmentation fault. So nothing
changed there.

I attached the bug.log file. Does it tell you anything?

Kind regards,
