Package: Konqueror
Version: 3.5.5

Good Day submit . . .

Note: This was reported a couple of days ago using reportbug. I was told that I would receive a confirmation email. I did not receive anything. I searched your bug list but could find anything so I will assume a transmission error and re-report this bug.

Using Debian 4.0R2 from downloaded CD iso. Checksum OK.

I installed from Debian KDE 4.0R2 CD and got this problem. I reinstalled
to ensure a good install but the problem still exists.

This is my fourth attempt at reporting this bug. I am sorry to advise that this will be the last. Your formal process is intended for people who know what they are doing certainly not people like me!

        Thank You.

Please include in your report:

    * The exact and complete text of any error messages printed or
logged. This is very important!

Error Message - KDEInit could not launch 'kwrite'

Note: Could not launch anything in root konqueror!
As a user, konqueror functions normally and opens all text editors.

    * Exactly what you typed or did to demonstrate the problem.

- Open konqueror as root
- Secondary click on any text file with any permissions
- Primary click on 'Open with'
- Primary click any text editor
- get error message

    * A description of the incorrect behavior: exactly what behavior
you were expecting, and what you observed. A transcript of an example
session is a good way of showing this.

Kwrite or any other text editor should open the highlighted text file.

    * A suggested fix, or even a patch, if you have one.

Sorry, no information on this. Above my knowledge / experience level.

    * Details of the configuration of the program with the problem.
Include the complete text of its configuration files.

    * The versions of any packages on which the buggy package depends.

It is included later in this message.

    * What kernel version you're using (type uname -a), your shared C
library (type ls -l /lib/libc.so.6 or dpkg -s libc6 | grep ^Version),
and any other details about your Debian system, if it seems appropriate.
For example, if you had a problem with a Perl script, you would want to
provide the version of the `perl' binary (type perl -v or dpkg -s perl |
grep ^Version:).

    * Appropriate details of the hardware in your system. If you're
reporting a problem with a device driver please list all the hardware in
your system, as problems are often caused by IRQ and I/O address conflicts.

Not applicable (I think)

Note: I booted up a copy of Ubuntu 7.10 on another hard drive and this
problem was not present. This leads me to believe that a hardware issue
is not applicable.

    * If you have reportbug installed the output of reportbug -q
--template -T none -s none -S normal -b --list-cc none -q <package> will
also be useful, as it contains the output of maintainer specific scripts
and version information.
